Issue 12: 📱You Have Tech Neck. The Crypto Story That Could Change Everything. And Nintendo Just Took Your Money.
After the hustle, the hike, and one hell of a headline — this one’s for all of us paying attention. Oh, and yeah, I'm a fashion model now (NOT!), check out this app!
Hey hey, Techish fam. Another Friday. Another great day to be alive. Anything fun planned for this weekend? I just took a quick run around the back woods (we live on an island in the PNW and the trails start right out my back door) to clear my noodle after quite. the. week.

This is one of those weeks where the hustle pays off. After weeks of digging, chasing leads, talking to victims and lawyers, and even with the company at the center of massive crypto-nami, my USA Today piece about the Coinbase breach is tee’d up to post … very soon.
Be sure to subscribe to this newsletter to ensure it lands in your inbox and I’ll get to more about that in a second, but first, we published so many great stories this week:

💃TRY THIS! Tired of online shopping fails?
There's a new AI app that styles outfits on you—not a model who’s never met carbs. We tested GlanceAI to see if it actually works. Spoiler: My selfie has never looked so chic. 👉 Tap to watch my video about it to see if this is the end of dressing room drama. You guys — I’m legit obsessed with the new GlanceAI app. If not anything else, it gives me and my friends endless enjoyment (mainly making fun of each other like besties do…) Remember my friend Pete from the wedding a few weeks back? 🤣🤣🤣🛍️ SHOP IT: These are the gifts that make people say, “Wait… you got me WHAT?!” We posted our carefully curated list of tech goodies for grads, dads, and anyone in need of the latest awesome, shiny gadget-y thingamajig. There are 11 total bangers on the full list — from smart swim goggles to portable massage guns. Read. Shop it. Love it. Share it. 👉 [Tap here to read the full guide ➜]
📵 MIKE’S DUMB PHONE DETOX: Techish editor, Mike Wehner, ditched his smartphone and went full minimalist — testing the Light Phone III, Minimal Phone, and Mudita. 📉 No social media. No GPS. No distractions.🧠 Just focus… and a lot of awkward moments. Read his full “can-you-really-quit-your-phone” experiment next week, but 🔗 read this first: 👉 [Trading my iPhone for a Dump Phone]
🎮 NINTENDO SWITCH 2 LAUNCHED — AND YES, I’M REVIEWING IT: Nintendo’s newest console hit shelves Thursday for $450. Fans lined up like it was Black Friday at Bowser’s Castle. 💸 It’s the company’s most expensive console yet — but still cheaper than it could’ve been. After Trump’s April tariff announcement, Nintendo raised prices on accessories instead of the console itself. TL;DR: Mario’s back. Your wallet isn’t. My full take coming later in June.
🚴♂️ And read on for Scott’s super bike, super-tech, bajillion-mile race report!
🔥 SNEAK PEEK: OUR COINBASE INVESTIGATION DROPS NEXT WEEK
Hold your breath. It’s huge. Heartbreaking. Infuriating. It’s the kind of story that makes you stop and think… what would the world be like if one company did the right thing by the people who made it worth nearly $70 billion? By “the right thing,” I mean reimbursing the victim’s wiped-out accounts. And what’s a few million bucks when you have billions?
What happened?
The two-second version: There’s been a huge wave of social engineering scams going after people who have money in crypto accounts. Most notably, Coinbase faced an insider breach that leaked a bunch of personal info, and wiped out people’s life savings.
Some people are getting reimbursed. But most are not. And just who decides who gets what is far from fair or just.
Now…I’m a big girl and an optimist. So while I know most big corporations won’t do the right thing, I keep expecting one to. Especially one that touts trust, transparency, and an end to corporate greed as its motto.
In a world where tech moves faster than accountability, this moment demands something from all of us: to pay attention, speak up, and expect better.
It’s not just about Coinbase. It’s about how fast tech is rewiring our lives — and how much worse it gets when no one’s watching.
Annnnd, that’s my Ted Talk for today. Thoughts? Feelings? Reactions?
🚴♂️ 30 HOURS. 46 MINUTES. NO SLEEP. TOTAL LEGEND.
We teased it last week, but huge shoutout to my right-hand tech tester and all-around badass, Scott, who completed a jaw-dropping, mind-melting, leg-destroying ultra-endurance bike race — 359 miles, self-supported — in 30 hours and 46 minutes.
Yeah. You read that right. And that’s not all. Oh no. He also wrote about the tech that got him through it all. Way to go bro. Way. to. go.
In Scott’s own words… the tech that kept up with him, kept him sane, and kept him going for a bajillion-mile bike race ON GRAVEL:
🌞 COROS Dura Bike Computer
The solar edition of this powerhouse bike computer features a monster battery life and seamless Ride with GPS integration. It pairs with absolutely everything Scott needed - power meter, heart rate monitor, and pedals to keep track of his cadence. The turn-by-turn navigation and nutrition reminder every 15 minutes was a total game-changer for this race.
Price: $249
🧠 WHOOP MG
WHOOP’s latest wearable isn’t just fitness tracking — it’s recovery intelligence. Tracks strain, recovery, sleep cycles, and overall performance. The new MG model is sleek, accurate, and built for elite endurance athletes. I hit a 2-day strain score of 20.7 out of a maximum of 21. THAT IS INSANE. For two straight days, I was peaking in a way that Patrick Mahomes doesn’t. Just earning a lot less money and notoriety!
Price: $349 (includes 12-month subscription)
⌚ Garmin Fenix 6X Sapphire Watch
Rugged, reliable, and loaded with features, Scott utilized this as a backup to his main GPS computer. It boasts a true 21 day battery life (suck it Apple!) and also was tracking his overall time, distance, heart rate, altimeter, and climb tracking — everything you’d want on your wrist when riding through storms, dirt roads, and the limits of human capacity. And being the sapphire glass version, it makes it nearly indestructible.
Price: $499
👊Scott, you're an animal. Respect.👊
Wait, there’s a more…
🍎 WWDC 2025 IS COMING…
On Monday, Apple unveils big visual redesigns across iOS and macOS — but don’t expect a smarter Siri just yet. I’ll give you the juiciest takeaways on all of that next week. What do you hope to see?
💥 TRENDING: TECH NECK TAKES OVER
Searches for “tech neck” just hit an all-time high. Google also shows record interest in “correct posture,” “adult tummy time” (it’s a thing), and — brace yourself — “tech neck filler.”
Why now? Because our collective spinal health is collapsing under the weight of our screen time. From phones to work-from-bed setups, our bodies are crying out.
👀 One trending fix: Lie on your stomach for 5 minutes a day. It’s called “tummy time,” and it works.
💬 Another: Try Hunched, the viral neck posture-checking app that uses your camera like a personal chiropractor.
Or just throw your phone in the Ocean.
👋 HEY! Thank you for being here for another week and another newsletter filled with my crazy life.
If you want to work with me, now’s the time to get on my dance card. Next week I’m off to Alaska with the Today Show, then hit the ground running when I get back in late June with trips to New York, LA, and SF rounding out a fun-filled summer.
If you want to write for Techish, submit story ideas, bios, and samples of your work to jj@techish.com.
Also? Do us a solid and forward this newsletter to someone who still thinks Chrome is safe and doesn’t know what “tummy time” is.
I sure love you Techish fam
